Zirconia has high strength, wear resistance and flexibility, far exceeding most other precision ceramics. Zirconia is a very strong precision ceramic with excellent properties in terms of hardness, fracture toughness and corrosion resistance. Therefore, it is sometimes called "ceramic steel".
